Toyota Prius C and Prius V concept


Toyota has unveiled two new Prius concepts at this year’s Detroit auto show. The first one is the Toyota Prius C concept, C coming from City. The Toyota Prius C concept continues the hybrid vehicle tradition of the model, and aims the active families, compact shoppers segments of the market. The Toyota Prius C concept hopes to appeal to young singles and couples who are in the market for a an eco-sensitive, high-mileage, fun-to-drive car.

Toyota has announced that the production version of the Toyota Prius C concept will hit the showroom floor in the first half of 2012 as the most value-oriented hybrid in the USA.

The Toyota Prius V concept, V coming from Versatility, tries to catch the “growing families with active lifestyles” market segment, offering around 50% more interior space than the regular Prius.

The Toyota Prius V concept is powered by a 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine with VVT-i engine developing 98 hp at 5,200 rpm and 105 lb-ft of torque at 4,000 rpm. The permanent magnet synchronous motor of the Toyota Prius V concept outputs an additional 80 hp and 153 lb-ft torque.
