Mugen Honda Civic Type-R (Europe)

Honda official tuner, Mugen is in the process to release the higher performance version of the European Civic Type-R that’s set for release in the UK in the third quarter. It will be available in the other countries after that. The latest version has been inspired by last year’s Civic Mugen RR concept vehicle.

Mugen Honda Civic Type-R is powered by a modified version of the regular 2.0L Type-R engine. This engine delivers 237hp (177kW) and 160lb-ft (217Nm) of torque. Following the engine modification are other modifications for handling, safety and weight reduction. The handling’s modification includes shocks, springs and bigger Brembo brakes (12.6in slotted discs up front and 11.1in units in the rear). The safety feeling comes from the adding of the Mugen’s new I-TCMS tire monitoring system. Weight reduction is important aside the engine and the handling modifications. Mugen has chosen lighter material for its car including removing the rear seats – replaced with lighter carbon-fiber accessories, lightweight 18in alloy wheels and a pair of Recaro bucket seats.

Mugen Honda Civic Type-R will be limited to a few dozen cars only. So, it will be a rare thing to see this tuned Honda Civic Type-R to compete with comparable car such as the new Ford Focus RS and Renault Megane R26.R
