Cree SAM-Evolution II
SAM-Evolution II is a three wheels electric car. This funny car like insect is made by Cree, the company from Switzerland. The company which was founded in 1996 and began prototyping and testing an innovative 3-wheeled electric called the SAM, went out of business in 2003 due to lack of sales and investors.
But now this company comes again with their car after earning fresh money from the new investors.
Cree SAM-Evolution II is powered by a 168v, 250a motor producing 15kW at 1,800rpm. This engine is mated with a 5.54:1 gear reduction to synchronous belt drive. The battery can be full charged in 6 hours (40% in 1 hr, 70% in 2) and gives distance range of 50-70km. With full load (2 passengers) this car has accelleration from 0 to 50km/h in 7 seconds.
Cree SAM-Evolution II standard model is priced less than $20,000USD. But you see below is modification version with new modern lithium iron phosphates (LiFePO4) batteries that give it a much more practical range of 100 miles and priced at $32,913.77 which doesn’t include shipping from Switzerland.

The car has weight of 545kg from the batteries and the chassis that is almost entirely aluminum.

It comes with not only fun but also futuristic door’s style.

Two front-wheel steering and rear-wheel drive with the rear wheel being the single wheel. It doesn’t have regenerative braking, but the small 3-wheeler does sport great stability.

It meets all European safety standards and has a roll cage and 3-point safety belts.
