2010 Chevrolet Equinox gets 32mpg (highway)
Chevrolet has announced pricing for its 2010 all-new Equinox crossover earlier this month. The 2010 Chevrolet Equinox will be on sale across the U.S. this June at prices starting from $23,185 ($1,800 cheaper than the outgoing 2009 model). The Equinox is available in LS, LT and LTZ trim. The standard version is FWD while AWD is optional. The 2010 Equinox comes with two new engines which each with fuel-saving direct injection and variable valve timing technology.
To make more interest, the American car maker finally released the fuel consumption figure for its SUV which is 32mpg in highway and 22mpg in city cycle. The 2010 Chevrolet Equinox can reach range of up to 600mi (960km) on a single tank of fuel.
The best fuel consumption Equinox is the base version that powered by a 2.4L four-cylinder engine that makes 182hp (135kW) and equipped with standard FWD. This model is 25% better in fuel consumption than the previous model.
Armed with better fuel consumption, the 2010 Chevrolet Equinox will be even more confident to compete with the Japanese SUV in its class such as Honda CR-V with 20mpg city/27mpg highway and the Toyota RAV-4 with 22mpg city/28mpg highway.
The higher engine for Equinox is a 3.0L V6 engine that rated at 25mpg on the highway and 18mpg in the city with its FWD. But these are not the officially figure.
Standard features for the 2010 Chevrolet Equinox include 7in alloy wheels, four-wheel disc brakes with StabiliTrak electronic stability control and traction control, OnStar connectivity, XM Satellite Radio and six airbags.
